It is a better pressing than the original release. Yes Mick Avory of course that is the orig. Pet Sounds duophonic cover and I had a look at my Smiley Smile LP and it just says "for stereo phonographs, no duophonic, and so the only one of the three that said "Full Dimensional Stereo" was the Alley Oop - Various - Do You Wanna Dance (Vinyl to reel cover of Wild Honey which I have scanned below I don't know what the orig album cover said.

I do not hear any sort of stereo on WH or SS. Thanks, everybody! Shut Down, Vol. Less compression. There should be no mistaking it. Right away you can hear a difference and during the bridge there is a SURGE in volume where the organ overpowers the guitar. So technically is has a mono mix, but not one worthy of hearing. Both remixes Summer Days And Summer Nights!! The mono LP mix is better tonality, voice to music balance, lead to bg voice balance. It seems to go down in volume in little 3 db spurts instead of a smooth fade.

That's because Western used high quality pots that didn't really fade like a fader. Better quality. Pick your poison: NR or EQ. Summer Days And Summer Nights!! All remixes.

I recently listened to a part of the reel to reel and did not detect any stereo but will listen to the entire tape. Sounded good considering how old it is. As far as Smiley Smile the designation "For Stereo Phonographs" could simply mean that it was playable on stereo though that is a bit deceptive.

Location: Irmo, SC. You can decide if there is any stereo processing. There's also pre-recorded reel to reel material by The Stones, Beatles and a flexi-disc by Gene Clark. This may be my favorite thread ever on the SH Forums. I hope it gets updated for the recent Beach Boys digital releases. For those catching up on the Pastmasters series, I've linked some useful threads. TurnaroundFeb 23, Location: USA. I'll chime in, since I feel some responsibility for this thread. I haven't heard Kevin's AP vinyl re-issues yet. I'm more excited for the digital versions. I've heard the new SHM CDs from Japan and they are the same exact tonality as the Pastmasters, but without all the snags and duophonic well, in most cases.

Some of the fades are even a little longer. FortuneFeb 24, PhantomStranger likes this. Alley Oop - Various - Do You Wanna Dance (Vinyl CosmicAug 20, Sir CosmicAug 21, Location: Chambersburg, PA. OK, here's my take taking the AP discs into account. I'm not the original poster and don't mean to step on any feet by updating his list.

Feel free to disagree and call me names. At least I tried, dammit. The Pastmasters still hold their own, though. They are very close except, of course, those instances where the Pastmasters use fake stereo. Naturally, triggering the SACD layer of the discs take you to the next level.
